XR Games are a multi award-winning game development studio that specialises in immersive VR games. The studio has a history of full-scale development from concept through to submission working with prestigious partners such as Sony Pictures and Rovio Entertainment.

Since 2020 our team has grown from 20 full-time members to almost 100 by the close of 2022 and due to the success and critical acclaim of our previous projects such as Zombieland: Headshot Fever and Angry Birds Under Pressure. Throughout 2023 & 2024 our team will now be working on multiple major projects with recognisable IP’s & licences as we continue to grow and invest in our future.

The Role:

We’re now looking for experienced environment/level artists who can be part of one of our biggest upcoming projects.

What you will do:

  • Create, compose, light and implement diverse environments, from manmade structures to terrain and nature, to the highest standard.
  • Work closely with the Art Director to ensure visual standards, technical requirements and best practices are maintained.
  • Mentor and guide other Artists and provide regular feedback.

Are you a fit?

The right person for this role will already be in a senior or lead position with at least one shipped title to their name across a full development cycle. You will likely have 5+ years of games studio experience and will be able to showcase a portfolio of projects. Your portfolio will show entire environments rather than just standalone assets/props. Demonstrating solid knowledge of techniques to author complicated terrain is highly desirable.

What we need you to have:

  • High proficiency in industry standard software such as 3DS Max/Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter/Designer etc - and the ability to quickly learn new tools as appropriate.
  • Proven ability to work across different visual styles.
  • Great attention to detail and aesthetics.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate ideas visually as well as verbally.
  • Be highly motivated and pro-active.

Our studio is based in Leeds, UK with a hybrid-working setup as standard. Our preference will always be to have people based in the office for part of the week, this will aid with your personal development as well as fully ingraining you within our team’s culture and fun activities. However we do accommodate fully remote team members if we need to and will assist financially with relocation for those looking to do so.

Have you made it this far?

If you’re still reading, we think there’s a strong chance you might be our kind of person.

Here’s the thing, though — research suggests that 60% of women and underrepresented folks might have already talked themselves out of applying. Even if you don’t check every box above, we want to encourage you to introduce yourself.

We believe a diversity of perspectives and experiences makes a team stronger — and the stronger our team, the closer we are to developing the best VR games possible.
