Hi! ( I see that you made some portfolio critics!!!) can you do one for me?? I am an architect who turn 30 in a global pandemic and realized that was unhappy with my job and decided that I must pursue my passion and dreams. After almost 3 year (since pandemic) O am searching my first job in the 3d field so... any critic will be welcome but.. with one condition.

I already have a mother an several aunts who said (AWWW SO CUTE) to everything, I don`t need that, please be mean, be cruel, I don`t really care (in that sense).

It isn`t really a portfolio because each work is very different from the previous one.. but I was learning (and I am still learning... does that ever ends? I really hope not)

well please, say everything you think, specially the bad thoughts

People are hesitant to go to external links so posting some of your images here will help.

My guess is that models will improve with time but to show them in their best possible light you either have to calibrate your monitor or learn few basic lighting set ups like -> 3 point lighting Rembrandt lighting or HDR as lighting Reason been right now your models are either overblown in some ambient haze or relative darkness all of which destroy form

In addition to that my suggestion is to not post row randers learn few basic color correction techniques to help you improve final input even if its just contrast bump up

@carvuliero thanks!!! Indeed as you say they are or too bright or too dark.. The last one have a 3 point light and HDR, but I think (they repeat the same) that is too dark the final result.

Thanks for your time and words!!!

Okay here goes a tough love post, do not quit the day job just yet. (awe that is so cute)

i wouldn't keep any of it, HOWEVER in the time being, keep what you have till you've tackled what direction you want to go in, what position you want to fill and what do you really want to do?

3D is (what i am finding) a very broad topic that expands across multiple areas of work, from what i can see now it looks like you gravitate towards, illustrations, plays, movies, shorts, props.

As creepy as this ol'hag is how many chins does she have? what is happening to her neck, do you have a reference?

https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Rn4LBD - I'd be crying to (bad joke?) https://www.artstation.com/anatomy4sculptors I'd use these helpful guides or even purchase what they are selling. (cheap way, save the images do your best with what is being shared)

    Perhaps you just need direction:

How bad do you want it, in other words?

Join any of the challenges in this very section: https://polycount.com/discussion/230163/the-bi-monthly-environment-art-challenge-may-june-78#latest

Post your progress and you will get the help you need from people who are also learning the ropes, utilize all their feedback to the best of your abilities.

If you want to skip all this in an to attempt at a fast track, do very easy things, start very small for a long time then go up gradually.

Hope it helps, if we got time then, over time you'll get where you want to be. tough love post...

    I'll add more:(slightly off topic)

from my 20 years of expreience trying to and trying to "connect with people who do this", is everybody is out for themselves... the rare occasions where they aren't you should hold onto those people for dear life and never let them go, make sure they understand their value in your life. lil bout me, i've been speaking to EVERYONE damn near and DO not speak to ANYONE, how is that possible? I put in all the effort to attempt C&C since the 90's and got no where for it, so just a review for all those who say how come this person gets C&C and others do not, for me this is why, i got nothing for trying to connect, perhaps i get leeway with my attitude and now you all know why i have it. (hiring should be about the ability to do the WORK, not make a friend, i can do the casual, b.s. conversation that is meaningless, i can't be a friend immediately on the interview stage on the 1st DAY of meeting anyone and to expect that from anyone is beyond stup1d, yes i am ranting, studios just end up tossing people out on their ass so all that, friendliness is b.s. in the end and just cause i know whats going on or what will happen, makes me a realist, i am their to work, if my work isn't good enough add on top of that i have to take someone's higher than though bullshit and not respond to disrespect cause you want to feel like you are above another you are all delusional(in that position)..)
