For 3 fucking months I have been trying to get one working base model, kind of low poly, say 5K at most.
Now, one would expect this after 3 months, one would expect this to be a thing, after mostly daily modeling and learning, one would certainly expect this. If not, I can see how wanting to find out the reason for such a setback, mundane ones like inexperience to the most extravagant of origins, say forgotten lobotomy. Only way to explain habitual stupidity.
I've gone to desperate lengths, skin modifier and then literally sculpting. I've tried all of those but all of those fuck me in the end, and there's retopology, essentially I'm back to square one, getting fucked by a box. How can I make a model?
You would be forgiven to think that perhaps I am blind and I have never seen a model before, hell, even better. That the moment I go to sleep I forget all knowledge that might have been learned, it does feel like it.
How can I get a model? Worst of all, one that can be animated.
DON'T TELL ME THAT I SHOULD JUST WAIT, others have done way better in less time, I know this.
Here this forum or 4chan's /3/, no, this is personal.

Its not really clear what you want the base mesh for. What product do you want in the end? On these boards most artists want to produce models suitable for game engines. That means: cage, detailed highpoly, retopology lowpoly, bake details, textures, rigging, animation, import into engine, code and implement. Any part of this is fine. The best way to achieve a good result is to relax, have a look around and indeed ask questions in places like this. It seems you have been whacking your head against a wall for 3 months and seem ready to give up in frustration.
Check out the 2 links above and depending on what you want you can also get a free app like DAZ3D to help as reference.
Have fun!
Thanks for the reply.
I wanted them for game dev purposes yes. Was looking for a model like https://www.artstation.com/artwork/A94YG5 but I can't box model at all.
Ah ok. That's a bit clearer. All the tutorial links above don't really help you much after seeing your end goal example. Enter something like: model low poly characters into google and pick a tutorial that you think will be most helpful. If that fails consider buying excising models and altering them if needed. If that doesn't work consider forming a team to make your game. Maybe modelling isn't for you.
Think that's doable for a beginner? And yeah, maybe I have no spatial intelligence so modeling might not be my thing...
Is it really low poly? I ask because of the shaders, I had an estimate of say 3K to 5K polys for that one. Wind Waker, game with similar shading had polycounts on that range
You were right indeed, many attempts have failed. Shotgun gets closer with every mesh that fails.
Never give up! 👍️
