Ngons or non manifold geometry involved? What happens if you triangulate the geometry in question first?
absolutely pure topology. it's just a UV sphere separated once by a separation surface modifier
the problem appears only on this mesh. there is no dense topology here, as for example on the body of a lizard (900,000 polygons), but the body is easily exported.
Hm. The poles of the UV spheres could be the problem. They are hard to tesselate. I remember that Sculptris had this problem too. But again just a guess. I haven't installed ZBrush anymore.
Try to remove the two poles at the UV sphere, and replace them by grid fill. When it works, voila :)
