Junior Rigger/Skinner Job Description:
Sky Castle Studios is currently seeking a Junior Rigger/Skinner with 1-3 years professional rigging and animation experience to:
- Create rigs and rigging systems for characters, creatures, items, and mounts;
- Develop character, prop and related rigging and frameworks (including skeletal system, skinning, workflows, and user interface);
- Troubleshoot and evaluate character-rigging issues as they arise.
Junior Rigger/Skinner Responsibilities:
- Construct 3D character rigs for assigned characters and props;
- Collaborate with Character Artists and Animators to support their needs;
- Keep current on pipeline techniques and technology;
- Keep up to date with industry-related art pipeline techniques and technology developments, and harness that knowledge for the benefit of our team.
Junior Rigger/Skinner Job Requirements:
- Required: 1-3 years professional experience working in a rigging capacity;
- Required: Proficiency in rigging and animation in Autodesk Maya, with a strong understanding of Maya nodes;
- Ability to create complex character rigs with realistic human/organic proportions, proper mesh deformation, proper preservation of mesh volume, stability in extreme poses, and consistent and predictable rig scalability;
- Strong understanding of skinning, anatomy, cloth / hair, in-game physics.
Junior Rigger/Skinner Preferred Skills:
- Applied technical computer animation knowledge with lighting rigs, rendering, dynamics, and other related scripting, interface and tools development;
- Excellent command of human anatomy, volume and weight, dynamics and character motion;
- Experience with R&D requirements, gathering and authoring production documentation, and creating templates, libraries and tools;
- Experience with facial rigging;
- Experience rigging animals and birds;
- Self-driven, passionate, creative problem solver, and a great team first attitude;
- Experience scripting in a rigging pipeline and/or writing 3D workflow tools is a plus!
