Currently Improving small VFX and decals, Slow progress today, Took a lot of node code to animate it.
I appreciate the color theme a lot. Red + Black and the sci-fi blue as complementary. :)
Is that going to be a sort of holo scope you are animating/doing the vfx work for right now?
Edit to clarify: On the last picture, does the player see these particles? Or is it for the person standing next to the sniper? 😏
Yes I am creating some basic VFX using displacement and noise + a few maps made by me in Affinity photo. The particles/displacement geo, Is somewhat experimental atm, I'm going to make it appear as if the scope uses energy to detect what's in front. Currently it is quite extreme for debugging. I don't think the player should see many, but some noise would be nice, I was thinking of using a camera to update the what the scope sees with a bit of code. Also the colour is very subject for change, as you can see its changed again 😂, Maybe ill change it back again.
Changes and improvements, Still testing shaders and adding new details
updated some code for more precise tweaking, hopefully it looks more interesting.
made some VFX, Planning to tweak the smoke and final colour changes, almost done, Feel free to give feedback
updates again, improved smoke and smaller details once more, cleaning up decals as well
I had to imrpove the node code to add more detail hence the colour change for testing
also the improved Shader helped the metallic stuff pop better and should hopefully do the same with with the paint once im done tomorrow
Great job all-round on this!
I'm also liking the aggressive military vibe in these latest pics plus that particle fx stuff, I think is a nice added touch too 👍️
I WILL BE POSTING MORE LATER THIS EVENING ON MY ARTSTATION OF THE GUN: https://www.artstation.com/bionicphobia
I decided to go fully with the one you liked as it felt more meaningful, hopefully you will enjoy the detailed post and animation I will post tomorrow. I will also aim to show a breakdown of how I made this so none destructive and procedural on texturing.
