Hey guys, I want to share this personal project that I have been chipping on the last few months, based on this concept by https://www.artstation.com/ayaoyao
I am on the final stages now on the high poly model and soon to be moving to re-topolgy and texturing. My goal is to create a real-time render either in UE5 or toolbag 4 of this guy.
Would love to hear some of your thoughts! :)
Thanks.

good concept to work from, it has a fine artist's touch and uses smart design instincts and choices. this is coming along nicely, good work.
Amen to that @killnpc, and thanks!
Looks awesome.
So I went ahead and started with the head first. Worked on the skin texture mainly in substance painter (although textures were baked in toolbag 4 as i get better results)
Decided to set up render in toolbag 4 (will probably give UE5 a chance later date) but here is a basic real time render of the head so far.
@ashnovember Thank you :)
wrapping up work on the head with the hair and beard. hair textures were created in Xgen. converted fibers to polys and then baked over into a plane to get the texture maps.
I'm happy with the progress so far :D
Looks really impressive. The hair looks kind of dry though, what are you rendering in?
add some anisotropic to hair, should look great
@HarlequinWerewolf @pes Thank you both for your feedback. Tweaked the hair shader and bumped up the anisotropic and spec values. definetly improved it i think :)
also to answer your question @HarlequinWerewolf i am rendering in Toolbag4.
This is looking cool! I'd recommend tweaking your eye materials a bit. The whites of the eye look a little too white right now. Adding some redness and small blood vessels will add some more realism.
Keep it up!
@sarasumm good spot there , I'l add it to the tweaks. thanks!
hello, after weeks of re-topology/UVs and some time off. I am back on this character. so far i have just done all the bakes in substance painter, threw in preset materials and test render in marmoset. I have also gone ahead and added the fur on his shoulders.
still a bit to go through with texturing but its the more pleasant part for me.
Hey guys, still chipping away on this. I am at a point where i am happy with the general feel of the materials for this character so here I share my progress.
Working on his pose and render so should be showing some final results soon :)
Hey guys, happy to show you my final renders.
