Blending height materials using displacement modifier 3ds Max 2022 OSL

Hello all, it's been ages since I've been on this forum!

This may seem kind of convoluted, but I will try my best to explain my question.

I am looking to blend two height materials to displace geometry on a mesh using the vertex painting.

I have seen examples on the forum that show how to create material blending using OSL to emulate material blending in unreal, which is not what I'm looking for. I am simply just needing something to control the blending between height inputs and plugging the result into "Map:" in the displacement parameters.

here is a perfect example in Blender. (Damn you blender, for having things I want)
