without ever having printed such a piece. i feel like just slicing it into printable chunks and using some preview to check overhang (i made my own zbrush material for that) eyeballing it and let automatic supports happen in your slicer. i would make sure that support is always on the inside of the shape. so sanding isnt necessarily super crucial.
the overhang stuff might not even be needed anymore nowadays, i would expect modern software to be able to do it for you. i guess that would come down to the printer and software at hand, no?
