We’re a group of talented artists, developers, character riggers, 3D modelers, in-house customer service agents, and gamers and nerds of all stripes. When we’re not brainstorming and creating new platforms, we’re a bunch of friends who enjoy sharing the latest developments in geek culture, exploring new technologies, and showcasing our creative endeavors!

Job Description:
Sky Castle Studios is currently seeking a Concept Artist to join the Hero Forge art team. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and creating designs for upcoming assets to be released on our custom miniature builder, including outfit designs, character designs, and props. You will work proactively with other members of the art team to incorporate feedback and create high quality concept art that fulfills the design goals of each project. Your ideas will be the stylistic building blocks upon which new 3D art is created for our website. You will be expected to take ownership of your concepts, exploring the boundaries of what is possible in our system, striving to improve upon what has been released previously while working within the team’s existing production timelines.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Art Director to define the look of Hero Forge’s projects across multiple platforms by creating a consistent visual direction for character design, creature concepts, and other artwork.
- Take the initiative to discuss project objectives with other members of the Art Team in order to understand, challenge and clarify the desired outcomes.
- Propose and implement plans, new processes, outsourcing guides, and ways of working in order to optimize art productivity and improve project efficiency.
- Create detailed key designs from written project plans and/or oral communications.
- Present a series of drafts of the concepts to the Art Director for approval and demonstrate the ability to ideate, iterate, and refine designs based on written and oral feedback.
- As needed, provide details and specifications to the 3D art team to aid in the development of 3D assets.
Requirements:
- Exceptional traditional and digital art skills with strong visualization and ideation.
- Ability to iterate rapidly, providing a variety of ideation options for any subject.
- The ability to communicate clearly, positively and effectively, using written, verbal and, particularly, visual methods.
- Ability to draw in a variety of styles, including styles similar to that used for Hero Forge’s miniature builder.
- Solid understanding of visual language - silhouette, scale, level of detail, harmony, key details vs. supportive details, proportion, etc.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and tasks with set deadlines while coordinating with a remote team.
- Proficiency in Photoshop required.
