This time I tried to create my own character in the same style as the previous one but make my own design.
Also, I noticed recently people asking for opinions on whether their work is at a level to apply for jobs/commission, and would love any opinions on my work regarding this as I love to get a job in the industry.

Latest WIP from concept:
Tried out my own rough designs for cat patterns as I'm not too keen on the concept pattern.
The sword is finished I think.
Started blocking out the body for the rider (I'll work on the face next).
Making small proportion adjustments to the cat to match up better such as making the head slightly smaller.
Maybe the cat body needs to be slightly longer?
The toughest challenge i'm finding is getting everything as close to the concept art as possible.
I always get way too focused on trying to achieve exactly as the concept art and accepting the 2D ---> 3D translation can not always match up perfectly.
Crits / advice always gratefully wanted :)
An update on the character. Still a ways to go but working away when time allows :)
Had to choose color scheme myself as concept is B&W only. May experiment with other colors later when finished.
Thinking the head may be slightly smaller in the concept, but it could be a perspective thing...
Slowly creeping towards finishing....
Will experiment with head proportion, probably make it smaller once I put it all together to see which fits best.
I'm will fix the chest area and add the rope back later.
I'm calling the rider finished now, spent a long time playing around with various proportion adjustments and settled for this.
Now I hope to get the cat finished up quickly.
Gonna call this one finished.
Not 100% satisfied with presentation, but I really want to move on to another project.
Color experimenting, not sure which is better.
