Hi. i need advises for modeling details for this shoe : i am modeling the shoe in 3dsmax. my model is almost complete. but i need to know, how could i model those holes in the black areas surrounded by white areas. seems a little bit complex to me. i have tried path deform modifier but in some situations like the middle i get un-expected results like turned angles and complex topologies.
Is this to bake down to a lowpoly asset as normalmap? If so, dont bother, just do it in texturing.
I guess even for a highres model your easiest approach would be using a displacement map
Its not easy as well. in fact its harder. maybe i have chance if i create a custom alpha map for those details. but the curves and the middle point is a pain..
Just a black material with a ~.1 roughness with a tiny bit of noise in the normal map.
Also a suggestion for anyone making shoes, it's really helpful to have a foot model or at least a model of another shoe to reference, even if it's quick photogrammetry done with a phone. Shoes have a very specific shape that I feel is pretty hard to eyeball.
