Project Orbital (working title) is a space RTS game set in a distant future where a council of aliens a humans live aboard large mega-structures orbiting stars at the center of the galaxy. The gameplay consists of managing a ship's power and subsystems to gain tactical advantage over enemies. Ship systems can become damaged crippling various functionalities like shields, impulse, weapons, and life support. Battles mostly take place between large lumbering capital ships in deep space with fighters deployed only when there are carriers present.

Art style consists of low poly ships, with some rough concepts drawn out, pixelated/unfiltered textures, custom hand made lighting maps, and vertex colored backgrounds generated through a statically baked skybox in Blender.

Looking for artists that have a lot of passion for low poly, pixel art, and vertex color based limitations and share some nostalgia for old RTS games like Homerworld, Starfleet Command, and Star Trek Armada. Currently we have a few ships modeled, but looking to redo the art style at some point. We have a few rough design guidelines for creating ships in Blender + Aseprite + Photoshop. Major preference for applicants is that they work in Blender (easier to share work between artists) for 3D modeling and be able to texture 3D models (no specific application preferred for textures), have experience with setting up materials and importing animations in Unity, and have done low poly/pixel style artwork before.
