Versatile Media is looking for an Unreal Engine Technical Artist who is interested in the exciting new field of Virtual Production. Bring your skills and passion to help us develop the next generation of animation and film making tools.

 

Versatile Media Ltd. is a successful media company that has been a recognized and trusted production hub for over 30 years. Our studio in Vancouver, Canada has a sole focus on virtual production combining real-time rendering technology with proprietary research and development such as AI, performance capture. Later in the year Versatile has plans to launch a LED stage in Vancouver for live action filming. 

 

At Versatile we are very excited for the future of film making and being at the forefront of the industry's digital transformation.  Our philosophy is to bridge technology with creative storytelling that drives this new virtual production workflow. In addition to the company's service opportunities, Versatile Media has a 100M film fund and a mandate to create original intellectual property for the new media platforms, including feature and series projects for the global market. 

 

Versatile blends creativity with the latest technology in our purpose-built facility that includes two performance capture stages, full of pioneering technology that includes motion capture, 4D photogrammetry dome creating immense full body and facial scanning data, that form as part of our advanced creature pipeline that delivers production results within a real-time game engine. 

 

As an Unreal Engine Technical Artist, you will spend your time...

  • Shaping project plans and/or technical feature sets; troubleshooting technical restraints and playing a big role in helping to execute the vision of our projects.
  • Supporting artists and integration of assets.
  • Creating materials, Blueprints, and Editor Utility Widgets.
  • Work within the pipeline and help identify efficiency in workflow in and out of Unreal Engine 4
  • Get assets from Maya to Unreal

 

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • At least 2 years of experience in the industry working with Unreal Engine.
  • An understanding of version control systems (Perforce and Git)
  • Basics of using a DCC (Maya, Houdini or Blender)
  • An understanding of the workflow from asset creation to integration.
  • Use of scripting languages (ie. python) for pipeline tools
  • Solid organization skills with adherence to file structures, naming conventions, and other established protocols.
  • Familiarity with motion capture, virtual production, camera tracking, Virtual reality, and augmented reality is a big plus.
  • Ability to self-manage and meet deadlines.
  • Portfolio/website demonstrating technical artistic ability that includes Unreal / Unity based work.

 

*Canadian / PR preferred.

**Must be willing to relocate to Vancouver, Canada.
