Hi, im using 3ds max for modeling and its "unwrap uvw" modifier. It's ok but when im doing more complex models it doesn't do a good job. So can u recommend me some uv plugins for 3ds max, what do u use? rizom UV? poly unwrapper?
If you're looking for a one click solution then Rizom seemed pretty good when I tried it out a few years back - I didn't bother getting it cos auto unwrapping is a false economy
It's worth pointing out that Max's manual tools are very good if you take the time to learn them - the main weaknesses are the absence of a good packing algorithm and some alignment tools. There are a bunch of commands that are not hooked into buttons/shortcuts so it's worth poking through the key assignment settings to see if anything sounds useful there.
Ah, well i do think max unwrapper is complete garbage. Polyunwrapper is a great extension with life easing tools. For a good packing, i suggest 3d-io uv packer plugin which is free and does a fine job. https://www.uv-packer.com/download/
Tbh max is okish for mechanical stuff, but for organic stuff it's really poor and old school.
Rizom imo is the best unwrapper out there, especially for organic models.
