[Full-Time] 3D Game Artist at VR Startup

TRANSFR provides engaging, hands-on training in a way that online lectures cannot. We create a better way to train young adults for the skills they need to succeed on the job. We focus on developing a pipeline of talent for jobs that are going unfilled, significantly reducing cost and risk.

We produce job-training simulations in virtual reality designed by each industry that teaches novices in the same manner that experts master their crafts - through trial and error. Data-driven simulations work like virtual coaches, adapting to every person’s pace and skills while responding to their mistakes. Our immersive Experience Training method helps trainees build confidence in their knowledge, skills and abilities.

Quickly becoming the leader in the virtual reality training industry, we have a need scale at lightning speed, we are currently looking for a 3D Artist for our proprietary Virtual Training Facility software package. We are looking for a highly talented, motivated and experienced person for this role in our New York City office. Remote work is fine, but we prefer that you are located in the EST time zone.

This is a 3 month contract-to-hire position that will require a 20-30 hour per week commitment ramping up to full-time.

Be part of a small, collaboration-oriented engineering team where you will have the opportunity to contribute in meaningful ways. You will be working with our dedicated art and dev teams to create high-quality art assets, provide expert knowledge to increase our software’s quality, and learn all phases of the VR development cycle.

Responsibilities:

    • Work with Senior Artist to create high quality 3D models and environments for simulations
    • Operate fixes on assets that need further adjustments
    • Optimize assets, create LODs
    • Document assets for marketing purposes
    • Collaborate with producers and developers on organizing assets and building a database
    • Assist Senior Artist on ensuring and improving the general quality of simulations
    • Learn new production, design and communication techniques as needed

Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of 3D modeling experience with a strong portfolio
    • Must use 3ds Max
    • Highly proficient with texturing tools such as Photoshop and Substance Painter
    • Familiarity with Unity and the workflow of incorporating 3D assets
    • Solid understanding of version control systems (Git, Perforce)
    • Experience with AR/VR development
    • Extreme attention to detail
    • Strong communication skills
    • 100% remote okay. EST time zone a must. Located in the NYC (preferred).

Bonus points if you have:

    • Game studio experience and shipped at least 2 titles
    • Technical artist skillset: writing shaders, baking lighting, 2D/3D animation
