I decided lately to switch from 3d product viz to game industry planning to work as an environment artist hopefully in big studios, Currently i have several WWII vehicles that i modeled 8 years ago and abandoned them, So now I'm thinking since i'm about to build an environment portfolio from scratch to reuse one of those abandoned models (VW kubelwagen WWiI military car) and work on detailing it with ZBrush and master texture painting using it... but the same time I'm thinking if it's a good idea to do that or I should better focus on rocks and walls modeling and substance designer and foliage since i have a feeling that the big studios tend to preferer the specialized person and i'm kind of started to feel bored from hardsurface modeling.

I think the best thing is this: If having the car will make the scene more eye-catching, interesting, and suggest you have a useful skillset, then yes. If not, no.
