Weta Digital and Autodesk are excited to announce the launch of WetaM - a new software offering that combines Weta's award-winning software with Autodesk Maya.
Seems like a grab bag of Maya tools being released...? Given that they say its wrapped in a custom version of Maya (?) and cloud-based lets see who can make use of it.
Btw. does anyone remember a french animation or VFX house announcing a release of their own inhouse toolset (those were standalone 3d apps from what I recall) from a few years ago? I can't find the announcement in Google anymore and don't recall the name of the place either. Some Paris-based shop at any rate. Would be curious to see what happened to it.
I skipped around a bit in that. I must be the only one who finds it hilarious that one of their stated goals is to empower people who aren't 3D artists yet - by providing a solution based on Maya, your average beginner-friendly 3D package.
Like trying to hook the owner of a family-run corner shop on SAP or Oracle!
