Hi! I thought it might be a good idea to start a sketchbook thread on here. Though I've always been kind of anxious when it comes to posting my work, I'd really appreciate the feedback so I can learn and improve.

Recently, I've opened up a portfolio site and started sharing artwork online. It's a bit bare-bones at the moment, so most of what you'll find here are also on those pages. Starting off with the first part of a Pokemon-themed fan project. With this first phase, I wanted to try making my own personal merch. 3D models were rendered, printed on shrink plastic sheets and attached to keychains. Using the base designs, I also created micro stickers. This was my first time using an electronic cutter, so I am happy with how accurate and smooth the cut turned out. I also generated turntables to show off the actual 3D models, which I will be using variants of for the second part of this project: A motion graphic animation.

Next part of the Pokemon fan project, I'm starting to work on the motion graphic half by creating these character sheets. These worked twofold as visual development for how I want the animation to look in the end along with images being used as keyframes for the final. Usually I sketch traditionally and scan art in to color, but these sheets were digital from the outset. I also referenced a lot of Pokemon art to match somewhere closer to its style, but tried not to create a direct copy.

New toon materials for the models I've already made, a quick poster and a rigged Ultra Ball model for the animation. Next step is animating and compositing everything together, so hopefully next post I can share the finished result.

Working on a series of harvest/spooky themed mini-projects between jobs! Currently I am creating some bottles of poison. These are the labels I made for the bottles. At first, I was only going to make four, but I was convinced to complete all eight concepts. It was fun trying to create some old-timey label designs.
