[PAID] - Stylized 3D Character Modeler for Indie Console Game [US Only]

TicToc Games is seeking a U.S.-based 3D Artist with a specialty in sculpting highly stylized, angular and cartoony 3D Models for an independent game project in early stages of production. They must have a love for character, storytelling, and be a creative problem solver. Position is contract based, with potential for longer term employment.

Responsibilities:
  • Create high quality stylized, angular character sculpts based off of turnarounds and 2d concept art.
  • Create 2D textures for skin tones, costume pieces, and facial features that can be mapped to different body surfaces and rigged/animated.
  • Create a modular system for assets (body parts, facial features, costumes) that allows for swapping of the same assets between multiple characters.
  • Address feedback and iterate on 3D sculpts based on Art Director feedback.
  • Work with Art Director to creatively address modeling challenges.
  • Communicate with Producers and Art Director to ensure art quality and deadlines are met.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years practical art/design experience working in interactive media or 4+ years of education in interactive media.
  • Strong knowledge of Maya.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, naming conventions and file structure.
  • Ability to create clean, animation-ready models (1,000-2,000 polys) that follow easy-to-understand naming conventions
  • Able to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with all development disciplines: programming, art, design, and production.
  • Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative to make the art better in our games.
  • Experience with ZBrush.
Pluses:
  • Traditional (2D) animation skills
  • A good understanding of the pipeline for game development
  • Knowledge of 3ds Max
  • Developed your own games for fun.
  • A strong interest in mobile,console, or PC gaming
  • BA in a related discipline or technical equivalent
  • Experience in agile development.
