I stumbled upon Lei's art (
https://www.artstation.com/limbolimbo) and thought it was just awesome, so I reached out and he kindly let me use his concept for this model. I originally only had one UV and three textures (base color, normal, and AO, roughness, and metallic packed together) as I wanted to have one material for the whole asset, but that didn't give me the resolution I wanted seeing as this was a portfolio piece, so I ended up splitting it up into a few separate UVs which gave me the resolution I was after. Saying that, if I was for use in-game, I would keep it all in one material because the resolution was in fact good enough as you'd never really get so close that you'd notice in a game. I modelled it in Blender, textured it in Substance Painter, then rendered it out in Unreal. I've come to prefer using Unreal for renders over Marmoset because I have so much more control over the environment and cameras. Looking forward to playing with UE5! My artstation post is here:
