Modern 3D race track tools?

I've been recently getting back to an old hobby, racing games, and began revamping some old engine code I wrote ages ago. After a few weeks of refactoring and plugging in a new renderer, I'm eager to start working on the tracks. Back then, I've used the following tool to design and export the 3D models of the tracks:


Bob's Track Builder is very popular among certain projects, like rFactor and racer.nl. Unfortunately, it is a bit dated... I was wondering if there are any modern tools or workflows for this kind of thing? I don't want to reinvent the wheel and create something in-engine (dynamic spline based modelling sucks and always requires hackish touch-ups).
