I know I can use the freehand tool over a model but I wanted to make a more precision line along the surface of a model ... How can I do that?
In particular I created a mesh pattern I want to reproduce along that spline to encircle the whole hat here and create a straw hat.
I want to createa a spiral going from center to the exteriors .

1. create a splineshape from poly edge selection. Connect spline knots like I did below, the use spline relax. To "push" back to original surface scale uniform just on X and Y. (check the animated gif)
2. use path deform modifier for your pattern. load your relaxed spline and adjust modifier settings. And use a clone modifier (you cand find as MCG on scriptspot). That's it. (check the second image)
