Unreal Engine 4 Senior Systems Designer

About the Position:

Visual Purple is looking for a UE4 Senior Systems Designer for full-time on-site work at our Boise, Idaho office. This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate would have experience working with Unreal Engine 4 in creating compelling gameplay elements and design, blueprinting/coding experiencing, and the desire and drive to perform a varied set of roles within a game studio.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with Directors and Leads to create compelling and effective gameplay driven training.
  • Work with Directors and Leads to design game system architecture and documentation.
  • Ability to stay organized and productive while working on multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Work with industry standard tools such as Perforce and G-Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Create game systems from architecture design to implementation.
  • Utilize problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborate with other programmers to create reliable bug-free code.

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years UE4 experience is required.
  • Experienced and proficient with C++.
  • Experienced and proficient with Visual Studio.
  • Experience designing game architecture.
  • Experience designing and implementing game system architectures.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with UE4 Blueprinting.
  • Direct work experience on game development with at least one delivered project.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience designing, developing, and implementing complex software applications and gameplay elements.
  • Developing for cross platform distribution (PC/Mobile/VR).
  • Must be a team player capable of working as part of both small or large teams on complex and deadline driven projects.
  • Ability to perform continuous integration, configuration management, version control, and testing.
  • Experience writing highly optimized and efficient code.

Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience coaching junior team members.
  • Experience reviewing junior team members’ code to ensure high code integrity.
  • Experience with Client / Server environment related to game architecture.

 

Position Details:

Full-time – on-site. Tuesday - Friday, 10-hour shift.

Salary depends on experience, starting at $75,000.

Must be able and willing to relocate and work in our Boise, Idaho studio.

Must be a US Citizen due to security clearance requirements.

** Due to COVID-19 this position will be temporarily remote

The company will provide all necessary computer equipment to work remote. Once the decision is made to return to the studio after the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, this will be an on-site position and will not be a remote position.

Candidate must be willing to work on-site in Boise, Idaho.**
