Hello!

I wanted to start journaling my progress so I can watch my growth, Critiques are also welcomed!   

I'm currently a uni student, studying Game Design. I want to improve my concept design skills. I'm interested in everything and anything concept wise however I want to focus on character designs.

I got very into Dead By Daylight and love the killer designs, I wanted to just draw some of them, the hillbilly one I believe is the better one out of the two and was also the one I did after the Huntress. I tried to think more about the lighting and the setting in general with the hillbilly piece compared to the huntress one.

This was my own 'killer' idea after drawing some Dead by Daylight characters, it something that I did for fun as a joke, thinking about killer corn, kinda inspired by the idea of the movie 'killer tomatoes'

I created this character inspired by the idea of a 'sun goddess' and by looking at different portrait photos on Pinterest. I tried doing this a different way that I would normally approach drawing. I'm happy with how the staff and cape looks, however the skin tone needs more work as it does look ashy around the mouth and add toes as right now her feet are just blocks.

The first image was the plan that i had, with the final result at the bottom. I still believe the plan looks better than the final result and didn't realise how hard it was to draw a car interior

clown enemy idea for current project. The OG was the thumbnail sketch which I then drew again in a T-pose to make it easier to model. For This enemy I thought it would be fun if they had long creepy arms to grab the player, either eats them normally or through the mouth on the stomach that would be fun to animate to have its own facial expressions too.

protagonist ideas for a uni project, I used a website that generated colour schemes and worked off those for the designs.

The portrait study, I got the reference photo of Pinterest and wanted to practice some grey scale shading

previous greyscale drawing from a few months ago. The green was just scribbled over on top of a duplicate. The idea was meant to be a rough outlaw gremlin. The lines are quite harsh compared to the shading. Comparing it to my more recent attempt at greyscale(above) I'd like to think that I have improved from this first attempt as its more smooth where this one it's very streaky.

Monkey tea party, sketch and final image, I really like how this one turned out however I need to re go over the perspective and add some depth/detail for the background

I tried redoing my past value study, however the values are more off than they were before and its too light compared to the reference

something a little different from character designs, these were some level interior designs and prop designs for a Unity group game project, we wanted to go for a 60's theme mixed with a goblin core/ witchy vibes for an abandoned cottage

some character outfit ideas with hostile mobs for current uni group work. For the outfits I wanted to keep to the 60's time period that we had agreed on. the top one is for the protagonist's Uncle, however due to their character I need to make the final outfit more scruffy. The second image is for the protagonist, I tried making the outfits unisex as we're not set on a gender for them and will mostly keep them non-binary so then the player can decide themselves during their playthrough of the game. The final is of some spider and rat designs I wanted to try and make them funky some having crystals on, some mushrooms and toxic waste as I thought it would go with the trippy world idea that we have.

Tried the same photo for the third time and think this one came out a lot better than the previous ones and that I've got a better understanding with greyscale now.

Character idea I thought of after seeing a outfit on pinterest. I wanted to make a priest inspired gun slinger. Greyscale is off but I wanted to just get down the idea before I forgot about it.
