I should count my blessings here that I'm still competitive on the market, but
to anyone who's had to deal with back to back art tests during a season of interviews, how much (qualitative) time are ya'll apportioning to them while you're already working?
I feel as if the only way to assuage my anxieties about meeting the tests is burning my whole weekends and evenings, losing sleep, to get these done in a reasonable time frame. Especially right now, I've been doing art tests since early October, it's been back-to-back art tests for me and I feel like I'm crunching. Mentally, feels like there's almost no breathing room, especially assuming these employers want to close these postiions ASAP.

I actually have a hard time dealing with this, too.
I don't think I've done two art tests, or more than one, at the same time.
Last year, it felt like it was one right after another, but only for a short while.
It must be a good sign, though, to get a lot of responses and tests coming in.
If you said to me that a theoretical 5 day test would take 10 or more days to complete because you dont want to negatively affect your day job I would consider that to be perfectly reasonable and also demonstrative of a sense of duty.
Anyone who responds otherwise can safely be considered a shit you don't want to work for (imo etc.)
In total, it's going to be 5 at the moment. 1 out of 2 have succeeded at this time (hilariously it was an level art test), and another test is being given by my current contract employer even though I'm already making the art for them.
The claim is that the test should only take one day, and overlooking it, that looks to be the case, so I'm predicting at least just a single day's worth of focus on this. This weekend is hopefully going to be me kocking out two art tests before I get the brief for this art outsourcing interview to work on.
2 of them were successful.
4 rejections up till now.
Waiting on word from this last one.
I don't know man, still sounds like they're using it as an excuse to squeeze out 1 or 2 free assets from you.
I mean, I'm already on contract with said company, so it'd be the usual lol
Danke. I'll admit the salary has . . . made me heavily reconsider what this job is going to entail. Still a tad shocked.
I marvel as to the insanity that we as game developers allow ourselves to be underpaid relative to similar positions elsewhere.
