I started this fan art sculpt of Rogue from Age of Apocalypse x-men comics (1994 or 1995) by Joe Madureira a while ago. I'm looking for any useful critique before I push this too far, its till a bit rough at the moment. Anatomy has been tricky due to the fact that this is a very stylized character I'm attempting. Shes on the cover of some of these Marvel comics. https://www.marvel.com/comics/issue/17738/astonishing_x-men_1995_4
Some more progress, the weird thing floating in the air next to her is the parts of her hand. I'm still making a neater version of the hand built of separate subtools rather than a blobby hand sculpt out of a sphere like I currently have, plus I can make a couple of hand variations for poses.
My wife was kind and gave me some time to do some art. I got a bit more progress done and managed to sort out a decent setup in Toolbag 3 for lighting and rendering. Materials are not done, sculpt is not compete either, still a bunch of things to do.
Thanks! I'm not 100% sure yet, part of me wants to go full on comic book background with flames and embers and stuff and another part wants to have a nice crisp realistic set of renders like a very good figurine. I do intend to pose her a bit first though, she does look like a default toy action figure pose at the moment haha. I don't intend to make a low poly or uvs so any texturing would just be done through polypaint and materials applied to groups from zbrush.
Still lots to do on the sculpt, especially the hair, started getting materials going in toolbag 3 though did a bunch of tests in the different lighting presets and its coming along well.
My latest update, lots has been done now and she is finally starting to look the way I want. I am trying to keep any details to a minimum and make the most of the forms. These are Toolbag 3 renders, the back of her head hair is still a mess. The only major thing left to do is a good pose!
More progress on the sculpt, pretty much done with it now. I want to keep it pretty clean, not too many details. I want to pose her but with a whole load of dynameshed subtools this could be tricky or time consuming.
She looks a bit like a toy in this shot haha, I don't mind that in a way its interesting. Still have a bit more work to do on colours and lighting and renders etc.
I managed to make a quick pose, wasnt the ideal mesh for posing. I like the result anyway. Find some more images on my Artstation: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/QrkRGx

A little update, added her swimsuit thing and worked on the legs and boots a bit, she is actually clothed other than her head and forearms.
What are your plans for the texture and presentation?
