So I have a model I need to render the wireframes for, I know a couple of ways of doing this, however, the model is heavily subdivided so the wireframe is really dense and I no longer have the low poly.

The last method for wireframe I watched involved using an OSL shader, and a UVW map set to face, what I was wondering is if there's a way to use an expression on the UVW map face mode in order to divide the number of faces, so it displays 50% for example.

Thanks for any help.

you could use blender or zbrush or even max with an extra plugin to reconstruct the subdivision levels. blender does this pretty well and with some options while zbrush can result in a "broken" basemesh
