Hello Polycount,
Making some hard surface asset with weight faced normals. I felt like I need a small prop in my folio. So I selected this. This prop is actually from the WW2 Radar system but I will change the back story to a Pun detecting radar. Might render it out as an advert in an old newspaper as a brand new pun detecting radar.
Plan to render it in Marmoset as well as UE4 I always wanted to render a prop in UE4 so this is just an excuse. But I'll see how it goes and decide based on that.
Current WIPs-
thanks!

Here I was deciding how I wanna keep the table and the wires and looking at the overall details. I soon found that arrangement A had problems with my eye leading to the junction of the wires below the table to so I changed to B. (I don't have a screengrab of the actual arrangement but I thought I'll share my thinking behind the outcome
After I decided on wires I found that the details on the small seismograph are to close to each other so I changed them.
Final screengrab of the model. I'll start uving this tomorrow.
thanks!
Finished unwrap and bakes
Blocking colors
Went back to modeling cause I wasn't satisfied with how it was looked in some places. So added two more cables.
But then I had the eye problem. Eyes lead to the right side to the furthermost extension board. So I changed that. Too much detail scattering isn't good if the centerpiece is my focal point.
I'll UVS new elements merge them with old ones and run the changes to the painter. RIPerino. I had also forgotten to add more bolts at some places. So more bolts, ah so electric!
Removed the table idea and decided to keep everything else. Felt too cluttery with vertical and horizontal objects.
Even though the ref was black I decided to go for more colors after getting tons of feedback about it.
Base textures in Painter and scene rendered in marmoset. Will be improving the textures and lighting.
Thanks! ^^
