Yo hopefully im posting this on the right forum I started 3d modeling recently and i wanna know if theres a way to get textures used in old games such as mario 64 or where i can get textures similar to them
If you want to make textures like found in N64 games a few things to keep in mind; N64 textures generally had a maximum resolution of 64x64, and 4-bit color was the norm. Many models only use vertex colors, and limited textures to specific areas like the eyes.
Depending on the game, it may have had a large modding community. The tools for extracting models and textures from the game still exist if you look around. Stuff like quake, fallout 3/nv, oblivion, half life, half life 2, gta: sa, all had pretty big mod scenes. Those games may be a little more newer than you want though.
