Don't have a real opinion on this but I find it interesting how this might shift power around in the game of publisher

sweet the value of my $5/month pc gamepass just skyrocketed. especially with EA's Origin titles joining that playform as well in the coming months. i have zero incentive to buy a new series x now, but MS will still get some cash outta me each year with gamepass. I am fully ready to embrace the cloud and subscription based gaming services like gamepass. less physical clutter in my office and a huge digital library at my fingertips. well played MS. well played.

I don't see this having any negatives. Microsoft might even introduce the concept of QA to the dev studio bit of the business
