Maya - Unreal rig

I'm new to Unreal and currently trying to gather all the info I can about it before start.
What's the basic workflow to get a rig going in Unreal? Can we import our own rigs from a DCC into Unreal?
I know there are things to consider, like corrective blend shapes do not read. What extension do we use?
I've heard of Animation & Rigging plugin that we can bring to the DCCs, is it good?
