UV issue shows up in substance painter


In the photo the faces are acting weird even though all the faces around them have the same smoothing group and the verts are welded.

How can i fix this?

    Check your model again. That's either UV, normal or triangulation related

    If it came from maya check it 3 times after performing the various history deleting/cleanup/combination with a cube/sacrificing newborn rituals. 
    Fwiw non-manifold verts gets exploded by fbx and will often result in that sort of thing.. 

    If you still can't see anything wrong, export the model from painter and look at in in something else - that will show you what painter is getting. If it's different from your original model then you know where the problem is.

    I looked at it inside of marmoset toolbag and it doesnt have this issue show up.

    that doesn't mean much - if it's a triangulation on import issue it could well be different in marmoset
