Regarding a MetalSteel Barrel Damaged look

Hello All,

I'm currently working on my secret prop :-) but I could use some advice. Regarding a MetalSteel Barrel that would hit some Cliff/rock wall pretty hard :-)  Would you expect some piece out of hit,  is this technical possible or more bend like surfaces (its from steel) or would i need to make more
hardedges following like the tearing part. Just wondering.

You should find a solid reference for what you want to do, and then try to get your 3D model as close as you can. But you need reference images.

I'k kind of guessing, but I think something made out of a sheet of steel (like a steel drum) is more likely to crumple than to break, but it depends on the steel's thickness, flexibility, temperature, and structural weak points (like welds and joints). Finding good reference is definitely the key.
