Suggestions for optimized gravel/small stones technique ? (ue4/maya)

I need to put tyre tracks/imprints in but it doesn't need to be dynamic/changed during runtime so a simple static mesh is fine.

The techniques I've found don't really  work well in a realtime environment (bifrost sand simulation maya), the closest thing in ue4 I could find was snow buildup shaders but I don't think this will work well with gravel.

Any tips on what technique I could learn would be much appreciated
