Next game character is this Big Daddy Goron with hammer!

Already begun plugging away at him but thought it'd be good to start a thread to mark my progress and maybe get some feedback.

Hairstyles - which one are we feeling? I'm thinking this beefy boi is gonna be about "middle age" for a Goron.

middle one and the one on the end right look good, maybe consider something in between those 2 for a style, also maybe consider trying some different facial hair styles as well.

Update:

Couple new styles, I'm sort of set on the ponytail though. Still open to change but I'm feeling it till I find something cooler.

I like the style, my favorite head is the right corner version. That one looks for me like a Zelda game
I had a tought for the body, he looks thinner than the other ones on the concept, maybe he needs a bigger belly for his huge appetite for rocks too.

@Crazy_pixel good eye! I took your feedback and checked the silhouette, sure enough he's not "Buff-fat" enough at all.

The next issue at hand, i.e. "uh-oh I'm designing again", is what kind of clothing and accessories am I going to kit this guy out with. Ornate sumo-inspired Mawashi, or simple wrap style? Or possibly do both as props that can be swapped in (love that DLC costume life).

maybe keep it simple for the main body, think how Goron's are in the Zelda series, they don't tend to wear much, it's usually simple forged metals and rough cloths, if you want any sort of ornate detail consider bodypaint or tattoos for the stomach since it's fairly common for them to have some.

consider looking at Yunobo or even Daruk though, they're probably the best for clothing inspiration for Gorons, since they're both meant to be champions

• Ornate clothing set aside in favor of simpler, basic dress. 
• Added cloth ankle wraps.
• Rocks taken from polished stone to a more craggy appearance. 
• Added secondary details like toe/fingernails, individual hair strands.
• Begun trying out some tattoo designs - love the power of polypaint for prototyping these! 
• Seems that I ended up married to the beard and ponytail look, but am still not sure it feels quite right.

Megaton Hammer high-poly update. How many dings is too many dings, I wonder?

Baked down some maps, unwrapped low poly and began texture/material base setup for the Megaton Hammer.

More retopology and bakes slowly making their way out. Hopefully the stylized "tube" hair strands will lend themselves to anisotropy. Not sure it'll even be necessary though in the end. Somewhat regretting not having done cards ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
