Hi guys,

I am trying to learn how to make a snow material but I can't figure out how to get sparkles on the peaks of the snow. I saw this article on 80 LV, but I still can't get the sparkle that Adam Dudley had.

https://80.lv/articles/how-to-make-a-snow-material-in-substance-designer/

I have a Secular map and Subsurface Scattering map that help a little, but snow easily turns into a metal sheet if I am not careful.

Any feedback and tips are welcome! Thank you!

That's because  he rendered them with iray probably.   OpenGL and Direct X would just make them invisible due to mip mapping  until you move  your camera really close.    It's a thing  that hard to do in typical PBR.   There are  few choices:
    1. make each sparkle bigger 4-8 pixels each
    2. make the hole texture not so hires
    3. edit each mip levels and add particle pixels to each of them
    4.  scatter small shiny triangles
    5. do not filter roughness channel at all in the shader.
    6. do it as a screen space post effect
