How to make this kind of design?

Hi,
I’d like to make this kind of design but I don’t know where to start. Someone suggested it might be done in 3D. 
I want to create high resolution files for print on paper so I don’t necessarily need 3D design but I want to achieve that kind of effects. 

I am new to this area, I have Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop background. 

Any directions please? Software? Method?

You want print ready high res 2D images like those trees in the pic?

The only reason why I would even think of approaching it from 3D would be if I couldn't rely on my 2D skills to achieve the result or style I was going after. If what you want is in the style of those trees, I'd just hand paint them at a huge resolution.

Ai is basically a vector graphics program, so a curve path workflow can be another method too illustrate 2D content and dependent upon the level of '3D effect' required, then the app's Effects Suite is usually implemented:

Hey.

I would do it in Photoshop to get the that "brush" texture. After that you could send ur file to Illustrator to vectorize it and print it in larger size
