Hello! I am a college student currently working on a project that requires me to post updates to a forum thread on this site. For this project, I will be creating a 3D character based off of this illustration by Lin Chang: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/RYYxgA

Currently, I am on the greyboxing stage, here is my progress:

This model will be detailed further in ZBrush.
I will update this thread with my progress every week.

I would have recommended you to greybox this out entirely in Zbrush with dynamesh and different subtools. You will be able to more quickly get the shapes you want and can iterate more intuitively.

agreed with above, you can even start with the default skeleton and dynamesh the bones which you can then rework their proportions

Given the angular forms of the concept modeling as a base is just as viable. Blockout looks great so far - looking forward to more.
