Workflow for creating hair and tassels?

*I use Zbrush, substance painter, Maya and Marmoset Toolbag.

So I'm at the point in my project I need to work on hair and tassels.  I've done hair before and a very rudimentary way with exporting fibermesh hair cards out of zbrush, throwing it into marmoset and just using the opacity channel and albedo settings to give it a silhouette and color.

It's very elementary and I've done some research, but good hair tutorials with my programs are hard to come by since they all use different workflows.  Can anyone break down the hair workflow progress after I create hair cards?  What else do I need to do  besides getting good alphas of hair strands and meticulously placing my hair cards in the right places?

I'm also creating tassels on my character and I thought that this process might be similar to what I would have to do? But I feel like theres some random process in zbrush that would let make tassels easier that I can't find.
