Hi guys! I recently started animating and I would like to create and finish my gameplay showreel by April. I have many ideas which include combat, climbing jumps and some gameplay cuts, however I am starting with the basics for the gameplay cut. I will be posting updates and the progress and I would love some feedback! Hopefully you guys find it as interesting as I do. Thank you so much in advance!

1.) When you animate in Maya, have one of your camera's set to what the player will be seeing (I'm guessing looking down on the character from behind like a third person action-adventure game).
2.) I would avoid polish until you get the animations in the game so you can see how they look and feel in that setting. Games are SO much about feel that the process is usually to do a SUPER rough version of the animation and get it in the engine as soon as possible. There are usually large changes made at those early stages so we don't add any polish because it just isn't efficient.
Hopefully if these tips are applicable to what you're doing, they will save you some time and headache. If I had to boil these down into a core concept it's that if you're making a game, it doesn't matter at all what your animations look like in Maya, the only thing that matters is how they look in game; so get them in game as early as possible and test them there often. Can't wait to see these come to life in a game.
