I really wanted to do something creepy, scary and finished in realistic PBR. It would be a nice breath of fresh air after my hand painted Tyrande project. I recently got listening to
MrRhexx's DnD Lore playlist on youtube. An episode on Beholder-kin really sparked my imagination, I'd not heard of them before and the death tyrants are terrifying! Born from the dreams of a beholder fixated on death and domination. Its anti-magic gaze is replaced with an ANTI-LIFE GAZE! and it can raise as MANY LOYAL UNDEAD AS IT COULD POSSIBLY WANT. I sincerely hope my party never encounters one

Early Blockout stage. Trying to keep a base in human anatomy and functionality, but make it monstrous

Think I'm there with the high poly. I'm going to see if I can get away with the floating orbs just being duplicates of the main eye because that'll be more economical with my time. Tomorrow retopo, unwrap and start the texture
A nice quick and relaxed project for a busy February. It was still a really great exercise in creature sculpting, and more gruesome pbr than I've dabbled in in the past. Plus a little quick animation to dip my toes into that field!
