how vray displacement mod works actually

hello
could you please explain to me how vray displacement mod works in 3dsmax?
when i import the mesh and apply vray displacement mod nothing happens.

i did, and i still have issues.
Nothing happens. It only deforms my mesh even more, i tryed to play with parameters but not much of results.
Same with displacement map.

This is highly dependent on your material and modifier and mesh setup. We'll need much more information, and screenshots.
