missing objects after reopen of saved file in Maya

Hello everyone,
This is my first time here and I am a complete beginner to Autodesk Maya(one week). I started a tutorial, then saved the file. When I reopened the file two objects were ok, but the third appeared as an unending black square plane. I closed the file and reopened it and the missing file was back, but one of the other files was completely gone. I closed the file again and reopened it with a different object missing.
What is going on here? Any help would be appreciated.

I tried to attach the file(.mb) but I was not allowed.

Hard to say exactly, this definitely isn't normal, and sounds most likely to be corruption.

When you say completely gone, they aren't in the outliner, or simply not present in the viewport?
