This is Farah, from Prince of Persia Sands of Time. I started this
character as my submission for Retrogasm 2019, and decided to take it further after the contest ended. I was aiming for a Blizzard/Overwatch-style look, and I wanted take the time to develop a stylized
texturing and presentation workflow for my real-time characters.
I also wanted to improve my rigging skills. This was my first attempt at a blendshape-based facial rig in
Blender - there are about 35 facial shapekeys (blendshapes) with left
and right versions.
The renders were taken in Marmoset
Toolbag. I look forward to hearing any feedback you might have!
Here is the face-rig I created in Blender. It's not the prettiest, but it worked well for setting up expressions. The sliders are all bones in the rig, so I can save expressions as poses.
The dunes in the background were created procedurally in Blender, following
this CG Cookie tutorial:
