Job Description
As a world builder and environment artist, you will create believable, compelling environments while ensuring that the work is in line with technical constraints and artistic direction.
Key responsibilities- World-building/level design in Unity with consideration of narrative and visual storytelling
- Collaborate on planning and initial block out to final polish and optimization
- Translate concept and reference artwork into 3D assets as required, setting a high-quality bar
- Prototype new techniques and processes
- Create high and low-poly models and accompanying texture sets
- Collaborate with the art team to deliver innovation and quality
Requirements- High-level world-building expertise in Unity
- World-building experience
- Advanced knowledge of Maya or Max
- Good level of skill in Substance painter and/or Photoshop
- A great eye for form, scale and detail
- Natural flair for composition and lighting
- Excellent verbal and written skills and ability to both take critique and give feedback in a professional manner
- Diligent self-management of both individual and team tasks on schedule
- Strong organizational skills with adherence to optimization and asset management
- 2+ years production art experience in the gaming industry
- Strong portfolio of recent work
Desirable skills- Traditional art skills (drawing, painting, sculpting, photography)
- Understanding of narrative world-building
- Skill in a digital sculpting package eg. Z-Brush
- World Machine/or equivalent experience
- Concept skills - Ability to visualize, concept and design
- Bachelor's degree in Graphics Design, Art or other relevant training
- Keen interest in VR
