Questions about starting Freelance 3D Modeling work

Hi all!

I have a question, or maybe a couple of questions about freelance 3D Modeling work.

1. What is the best way to get started on Freelance 3D Modeling work?

I ask since I want to get some sort of 3D Modeling experience and get my career started in it. I spend as much time as I can working on my 3D work, however I'm still learning, but at the same time it would be nice to get some experience and exposure to the field. I currently work a different job, but wI want to transition out of it ASAP.

2. When doing Freelance work, do you have to complete very detailed work, or can you do simple polygon models that you don't need to add a lot of detail to?


I ask these questions since I want to get started on doing Freelance work, even if I'm still learning and improving my skills. Any feedback or help on this is greatly appreciated!

Produce the best quality work  you can in the area you are most passionate about, and make sure that work  is easy to find and view by those that may require your services. A good place to start is to hop over to artstation to see what your competition is offering. 2. When doing Freelance work, do you have to complete very detailed work, or can you do simple polygon models that you don't need to add a lot of detail to?

Yes.
Depending on how good you are you can be required to do either or both. 3D artists are broken into two main groups: generalists and specialists and there is work for the two. There is a lot of advice online google

I've hired programmers who I found because they were making tutorials on youtube. This way I could see exactly what skills they have, and what their communication skills are like. 

btw, if everybody puts ATTN: on their threads that gets a bit annoying doesn't it?

@Alex Javor thanks for the information! I might consider doing YouTube tutorials in the near future, but I feel that I still have a lot to learn before I do that. I totally understand why you would ask that, I think I did that to ensure I'd get a response on this thread. I know it's not the best way, but in the past I've had it where I have received no responses on a question or questions I have had.

I've edited the topic title. You got responses before you added the "ATTN" . Did you feel like those answers weren't good enough? Why? 

Please refrain from doing this in the future, it's quite rude. Both to those who have responded, and to the others who have their own equally worthy topics.

@Eric Chadwick I did not think that, that was not my intention if it accidentally came across that way. I will no longer put "ATTN" in the future on topics, so I apologize for that. I never meant any ill intentions or anything. Everyone deserves an equal amount of exposure on the questions they ask.
