Hello everyone,
this might seems like a strange question, but I'm learning Substance Designer right now and I want to use the substances in UE4.
On the internet and on ArtStation I see a lot of great materials, most of the time rendered in marmorset, and I was wondering if those materials with extreme tessellation are actually used in a game context? I'm not very knowledgeable about engines but I was told that tassellation/displacement is quite expensive - so a ground material with a lot of bumps and rocks on it would probably be out of the question when it comes to use.
Does this mean that those kinds of materials are only used in pre-rendered productions?
Please enlighten me!
Thanks
