I'm starting to play with character modeling, Marvelous Designer and stuff and I was looking for some quality human base meshes. Most meshes I could find look like plastic people. Does anyone recommend any set?
Yeah, Im with sacboi, Daz would be the way to go. Just hopped over there and it seems the software is still free, you just have to sign up. I know you can export figures, they are high res but you could easily use them as a base for retopology.
But that's mostly for diffuse stuff. I wanted just the high-poly with details.
The base mesh from ten24 comes with a ztool with layers. The top layers are projected from the raw scan. It's also got deformation layers with different poses.
Couple that with one of their ecorches, and its like the best anatomy reference you can get (along with a pretty decent base mesh too).
But I'd just grab everything. All the stuff others have recommended, and whatever else you find. This way you got a nice pool of different proportions and topologies you can pull from -- save you a lot of work down the line.
