Finding the Right Size for Environments

I've been designing my first Unity environment, but I am having trouble figuring out the size of everything. My raise and lower terrain are too sensitive, even at 0 opacity. Which makes me think my terrain is too small? But at the same time, I feel like my textures are small, making me feel like my terrain is too big (I'm aware I can change my texture size, I'm talking about the default size).

Basically, I'd love to get some advice on the most standard starting settings for a game environment, so that I can get the scale figured out.

(Any general environment art tips are welcome as well. Like, how much should I have in each environment tile? A whole island, or multiple tiles making up the island?)
